MNMGT599 Timeline:

AssessmentActivity

Initial and Final Proposals

&

Ethics Approval

Prepare and submit an initial proposal via MyWIL https://wil.waikato.ac.nz/Default.aspx

You will need to choose a topic and a company sponsor (a sponsor is only needed if you are NOT doing a desk topic study). If you are unsure of what is needed in the proposal, the convenor will be happy to assist you, or you can contact an academic member of staff in your field of study (major).

Please note that it is a requirement that EVERY '99' student will collect primary data via survey or interviews, in addition to a secondary data set.

Once the initial proposal is approved, you will be assigned an Academic Supervisor and a Second Assessor for your investigation.

Make a time to meet your supervisor, who will discuss your investigation with you and offer advice to guide you through the investigation process.

So that both parties have a clear understanding of the project, you will be asked to rework your initial proposal into a more detailed final proposal and email it to your supervisor. This is your Learning Contract.

You will also need to submit a research ethics application BEFORE you begin primary data collection via interviews or surveys (the ’99’ Student Guide in Moodle contains more information).

ResearchLiaise with your supervisor at least every two weeks, via email. Meet as necessary to discuss progress and resolve issues with your research. (you should NOT contact the Second Assessor for advice)
Draft Report

Submit your draft report via Moodle and receive constructive comments from your Supervisor and Second Assessor.

Note: The draft report does not carry any weight in your final assessment, but experience shows that a draft that is close to being the final version results in a superior end result.

Final Report

Submit your final ‘99’ report via Moodle for grading (Max. 12,000 words for a 599)
